She likely would not menstruate. • If Barbie was a real woman, she’d have to walk on all fours due to her proportions.  • Slumber Party Barbie was introduced in 1965 and came with a bathroom scale permanently set at 110 lbs with a book entitled “How to Lose Weight” with directions inside stating simply “Don’t eat.” I grew up with Barbies. Sad to hear these stats… and people wonder why girls hate their bodies….

Joan, a 19 year old Freedom Rider, was sentenced to two months in prison for her involvement in the integration of a Jackson, Mississippi bound train.  She served more than the required two months because each addition day reduced her $200 fine by $3.

In the Fall of 1961, Joan transferred from Duke University to historically black Tougaloo Southern Christian College because she felt integration should be a two way street. 

Today Joan is a retired teaching assistant living in Virginia and mother to five sons.  After the 2008 election she brought her Obama pin to the grave of Medgar Evers.

I saw this man on the Metro this past Monday, and asked him who the flowers were for. They were for his wife. They’ve been married for 47 years. Every Monday, he brings her home flowers after work. My heart died at that moment.

fuckyeahtattoos: This giant sequoia redwood tree is my first tattoo. I got it because I can truly say that there is no where I’d rather be than hiking in the redwood forests of the west coast. As a California native that has since moved to the midwest, I love having this piece of my home to take with me. I just got it a week ago and am absolutely in love with it.
